Blues trade Fredericton's Jake Allen to Montreal
Goaltender Jake Allen will be wearing different colours when he takes the ice next season.
In a press release Wednesday, the St. Louis Blues announced they were sending the 30-year-old Fredericton native and a seventh round draft pick in the 2022 draft to the Montreal Canadiens.
In exchange, the Blues will receive two draft picks in the 2020 NHL Draft.
Blues' President of Hockey Operations Doug Armstrong said in the release, "Jake has always been a top-tier professional who has done everything we have asked of him. We wish Jake and his wife Shannon nothing but the best in Montreal."
Allen was drafted 34th overall by St. Louis in the 2008 NHL draft and ranks second all-time in Blues' history with 21 shutouts.
