Team Gushue wins first-ever Everest Curling Challenge
The first-ever Everest Curling Challenge, held this weekend at Willie O'Ree Place in Fredericton, was a huge success.
Brad Gushue made a last rock hit and stick in the 8th end to edge John Epping 6-5 in the final.
The reigning Canadian and world champion men's skip collected the winner-take-all purse of $200,000 — $50,000 apiece for him and his temporary teammates Cathy Overton-Clapham, E.J. Harnden and Lisa Weagle.
Eight teams and 32 players battled it out for the top prize during the three-day event.
