Violent offender arrested on Fredericton's northside on Thursday
Fredericton Police say they arrested a violent repeat offender on January 9.
A release says police had received reports of a number of break and enters in the Nashwaaksis area, and following an initial investigation, the suspect was tracked to a residence where a stolen vehicle was recovered.
Police say after further investigation, officers descended on an address off Main Street where they believed the suspect was hiding.
A search of the residence revealed the suspect, who was hiding inside a hollow box-spring mattress, and he was arrested.
Fredericton Police say 31-year-old Catlin William Moorehouse of Fredericton faces a number of indictable offences, including break and enter, motor vehicle theft, assault causing bodily harm, breaches and two warrants of arrest.
A release says Moorehouse was also found to have been the suspect in an intimate partner violence assault, which left a female with multiple injuries.
Thousands of dollars in property was recovered, including sporting equipment and tools, and police believe as many as 10 files will be solved with the recovery of the items.
