My fellow 2020 graduates, never once did I imagine not being able to cross the stage on the day that we've worked for, for a long 12 years, but this situation has also made us so strong. I always had this dream of walking across the stage in the perfect dress, having the perfect date, and having the best teachers, friends, and family right by my side. I'm sure many others have had this same dream, however unfortunately we couldn't have it that way. Instead, we have learned to live in one of the worst possible circumstances, and powering through the rest of our year online. We have worked together as a team to keep Covid-19 as under control as we can. If we can do that as a team, we can get through anything. We have all worked so hard and have such bright futures ahead of us. I can't wait to continue to see all of your friendly faces around, and meet new faces both from around the world, and here in Calgary as I move forward to university. My heart goes out to all the 2020 graduates. - Central Memorial High School
  • Jacquie

  • Kiyara

We have worked hard to get where we are today, only to be told that we are not able to celebrate the way the graduates before us. As we enter our Adulthood and away from the life of high school, we are challenged with our first REAL life situation... We must take/challenge this situation head on and not let it become the better of us. We have the choice to allow the COVID-19 virus destroy us. Let us with physical distancing step forward with both feet and learn to create a new and creative way to adapt and SURVIVE. - Dr. E. P. Scarlett High School
  • Mikayla

Even though the circumstances are incredibly disappointing, we should all be proud of how far we've come. This pandemic does not change the fact that we've all successfully completed however many years of school we've done, and that?s the most important part. We are the class of 2020! - St Timothy
  • Jonah

Congratulations class of 2020 for making it this far even thought we don't get a graduation and banquet at school we will still be able to celebrate when social gatherings are allowed again. - WH Croxford High School

  • Jorden

Congrats to my fellow UofC graduates, no one could have imagined this would have happened. That our lives would be put at a standstill, convocation would be taken away from us, jobs would be taken away from us. This is such an unprecedented time but we will get through it together. - University of Calgary
  • Stella

Congratulations to all my fellow graduates. This year will definitely go down in the memory books ! - Dr. E.P. Scarlet High School

I guess graduating with the coolest year name (2020) comes with a price but one none of us would expect. It sucks that our high school experience was cut short but we still have much more experiences to experience. Now is an exciting, stressful, scary time entering adulthood. We are strong. We will get through this. We will have a time to celebrate in the fall even though it wasn't what we were all expecting. Graduating is a big deal but we just have to stay positive in these times and cherish how wonderful it is to live in a country where we can go to school and get an education. This is not the end. Be proud of your accomplishments even if there is not a big celebration like we were all expecting. - Forest Lawn High School

Although Covid-19 has taken our graduation ceremonies, it can never take away our accomplishments and memories. The last 12 years have taught us more than just equations and similes. It has taught us compassion, teamwork, and respect, preparing us for the future as we leave our safety net. Our struggle will not be forgotten.
