Danaye's Daily Dose for December 1st, 2020
Alberta recorded 1,733 cases of COVID-19, another new record, and 8 deaths yesterday. There are nearly 100 people in ICU’s across the province and there are 6114 active cases in Calgary.
Calgary police say that members of the force and bylaw officers will be clamping down on people violating health orders, including those gathering indoors, those dining at restaurants with people outside of their household and those holding huge gatherings. They say the tickets are being handed out over the big anti-mask protest held downtown on the weekend, adding it’s not always safe to issue the tickets at the time of the offense, especially in a situation where emotions are running high.
The Pandas from the Calgary Zoo have arrived safely back in China after a marathon 3 day trip. They were originally supposed to stay in Calgary until 2023, but with bamboo hard to get because of the pandemic, the zoo decided it was best to get them home where there’s no shortage of their zoo supply. No word on what they’re going to be doing with the Panda Exhibit at the zoo! My family is going to miss those guys SO much!
The Disney Holiday Sing Along was last night, hosted by Ryan Seacrest and featuring a bunch of musicians like Katy Perry, Pink oh and BTS with their version of Santa Claus is Coming to Town!

Merriam-Webster’s Dictionary has declared their word of the year and there’s absolutely zero surprise here! If you guessed lockdown, mask, or unprecedented, those are decent thoughts, but no. The word is of course PANDEMIC
It's the story of the year and now the word of the year.
