The Daily Dose with Danaye! (November 5, 2020)

Still no clear cut answer in the American Election as votes continue to be counted. It looks like Biden may be in the lead, but with Donald Trump already calling for a recount and laying lawsuits in certain states, it could be a while before things are officially decided. They have until December 8th to figure it all out.

Something else that's super scary popped up in the news yesterday, in the form of ANOTHER rare virus. Read more about it HERE.

Some info from Canada’s Chief Medical Officer on virus:

A huge congratulations to all the Mount Royal Students celebrating their convocations this week and in such a unique way. Drive In style grad ceremonies kicked off at MRU yesterday with a ceremony that saw tons of students pull up and enjoy the huge milestone from their cars complete with drive in screens and special radio frequency for the ceremony to be heard. Two more celebrations will take place- one today and one tomorrow, with about 200 students attending in total.

Santa is STILL coming to town! With Christmas being 50 days from today, Calgary’s biggest malls have announced that they’ll have socially distanced options for you to get your photo with the big guy in red this year! South Centre is setting up The Holly Jolly Tree Farm where you’ll have the option of hopping in the back of Santa’s pick up truck to get a photo with him. You’ll have to book appointments and those open up tomorrow, with visits starting next Friday.

Market Mall and Chinook Centre say they also have special plans to allow families to visit Santa. And with it being 50 days until Christmas, for the 9th year in a row, I kick off a celebration that’s been a big part of my life: 50 Days of Home Alone. I watch the first movie and the sequel Home Alone 2: Lost in New York every single day to lead up to Christmas and you can join or follow along by checking out @50DaysOfHomeAlone on Instagram for a fun way to count down to the most wonderful time of the year! With all of us spending a LOT of time at HOME (and in some cases ALONE) the event seems to have even more meaning this year!
