The ‘Lizzie McGuire’ Reboot for Disney + Has Been Put on Hold

This is the worst news ever!

It is sounding like the reboot of ‘Lizzie McGuire’ for the new streaming service, Disney +, has been put on hold for the foreseeable future.

This is worse than when Gordo was sad because Lizzie had a boyfriend that wasn’t him. This is worse than when Matt put honey on the house phone and Lizzie’s hair was ruined right before she had to go school. Honestly, this may even be worse than the time Lizzie’s mom made her wear that disgustingly hideous knit sweater on PICTURE DAY. Like, how dare you Mrs. McGuire?!

I mean, to be fair, worse things are happening in the world right now… but this is definitely worth being a little upset about. From what sources are saying, the showrunner, Terri Minsky, has stepped down, and now they’re looking for a replacement. Come on Terri, why you gotta do us like this?!

Lizzie McGuire was on the air between 2001 and 2003, the premiere date being January 21, 2001 (which means TOMORROW WE SHOULD CELEBRATE THE ANNIVERSARY). The hope was that the show would be back for our viewing pleasure in a new and improved way at some point in 2020, but now who knows if that will actually happen?

A lot of people are not stoked about this decision, and it sounds like they’re looking for a replacement… but on hold and cancelled are two different things. Let’s hope it stays that way. If you’re looking for some good news in a relatively dark situation, the original series ‘Lizzie McGuire’ is still going to be on Disney + and there’s no talk of it being removed, and the Lizzie McGuire movie is still up there too. This may not be the fix that you were looking for but hey, we’ll take what we can get.

PLUS – if this reboot was going to be anything like the reboot of ‘Boy Meets World’ we may be better off without it. Sorry not sorry.
