How & Where to recycle your Christmas Trees in Edmonton

Tree

Christmas Tree Recycling:

The wonderful time of the year where we take Christmas down! Here’s what to do with your trees:

Edmonton residents are asked to place their un-bagged tree on its side next to their garbage bags by 7am on Thursday January 9th, 2020. Trees will be picked up for recycling before the end of the month – might not be on your regular waste collection day.

Just a reminder to remove all ornaments, tinsel, garlands, nails, screws and tree stands must be removed in order for it to be acceptable for composting. Large trees need to be cut into two-metre (6.5 foot) lengths.

Condo & Apartment residents are to bring their Christmas trees to a community recycling depot or an Eco station – free of charge between now and January 31st.

The reuse centre accepts artificial trees – free of charge – if they are in a box including all parts. They will be reused by some organizations. If your artificial tree is not fit for reuse set it out with your garbage on your regular collection day.
