Kat's Top 3 Fave Thrift Shops with a Cause in YEG
When people say Thrift Shop, I think of that earworm tune from Macklemore that SCREAMS 2012 to me.
Then my mind automatically goes to thinking about my fave spots that I've frequented for the last year in Edmonton.
And here's the catch: profits from all the thrift stores go to great causes!
This thrift store in Edmonton focuses mostly on furniture. They're always selling gorgeous curated vintage furniture for fantastic prices. I'd definitely recommend following their Insta because they also feature one-of-a-kind items on there! They carry everything from old records to paintings to old rocking horses!
How they help: "Find is a social enterprise with two goals: providing essential furnishings free of charge to individuals and families who are moving out of homelessness, and supplying low-cost, quality furniture and housewares for sale to the public."
Remember when March felt like it was 2 years long? Well, now are already into September! How did that happen?! August was a great busy month for us here at Find. Despite not being able to have our annual donation drive and community BBQ (we missed seeing all your friendly faces!), we were able to focus on supporting the #HousingFirst program and cleaning donations to get into participants new homes. We are proud to announce that we were able to support 173 people as they transitioned out of homelessness in August and furnished a total of 114 homes with community donations of furniture and home goods! 51 kiddos will be starting the school year in their new homes. Pretty incredible! We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who was able to donate over the past month, the amazing Housing First teams working tirelessly to find homes for the participants and our teammates who are working hard to clean and deliver these items to the folks who need it most. Let's keep this momentum going into the Fall (can't believe we are saying this already!)! If you have donations of dining tables, couches, love seats, chairs, TV stands and dressers, please consider Find as your donation location this fall. Each donation benefits someone moving out of homelessness in #yeg.
