Ontario Tik Tok-er Paige Layle Breaks Down Autism Stereotypes

paige

Paige Hennekam, a 19-year-old from Ontario is using her platform to educate people about autism spectrum disorder and what it can mean.

She mentions the stereotypes that come along with autism and her experience with doctors overlooking her symptoms, addressing how the beginning research of autism was only on the male brain.

She goes through the sociological reasons why girls are usually diagnosed with autism much later in life, and how there's a lot of work to be done when people (even doctors) understand autism.

Paige also mentions terms that are helpful and unhelpful to use, and continues to educate people on what autism "looks like" and how it's represented in the media.
