You're Going to Notice More Annoying Bugs in YEG this Summer

This year, both ants and wasps are ramping up in population - mostly due to warm temperatures.

When weather’s cool and rainy, the life processes/cycles of these insects are slowed down, whereas in the opposite way when it’s hot and dry, the life cycle of wasps and ants are sped up because their metabolism speeds up.

The ants and wasps also are foraging for food faster, and the queens are usually laying lots of eggs during this time so the population can increase sharply.

Yellowjacket wasps get more irritable toward the end of the summer when food supply dwindles, and the older wasps get crankier as they’re on guard.
