This Week’s Hidden Gem:
Cape Split, Canning
Cape Split is a gem of an experience in the Annapolis Valley. While the view at the end is the crowning glory of the trail, the journey through a pleasant forest featuring beautiful hardwoods and wild flowers doesn’t hurt. Be sure to stay well back from the cliffs at the end of the cape, where you’re met with a rugged and windswept view of the Bay of Fundy and the cape's iconic sea stacks - a perfect place for a rest and a picnic. With a new trail added on the Scotts Bay side of the Cape, it’s mostly a loop trail of moderate difficulty that’s about 13 km return. It makes for a good day trip from Halifax. Toilets are located at the trailhead and about 2 km into the trail. Find the trail near Canning on Cape Split Road.
