Corey Hart on Friday premiered the official video for “First Rodeo,” a track from his 2019 EP Dreaming Time Again that features fellow Canadian music veteran Jim Cuddy.

The animated visual was directed by Toronto duo of Josh Raskin and Justin Broadbent.

“First Rodeo” is autobiographical for Hart, who dominated the Canadian pop scene in the 1980s with hits like “Sunglasses At Night,” “Never Surrender” and “Everything in My Heart.” Last March, Hart was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame.

“The song is reflecting back upon my music career and reconciling how you really gotta walk the million miles to finally appreciate the beast and the beauty of it all,” Hart explained, in a release. “You can’t sing about the ride until you’ve been through it.”

Cuddy, who has had success with Blue Rodeo and on his own, had nothing but praise for Hart and producer Bob Ezrin.

“Corey's enthusiasm and Bob's precise direction were invaluable,” Cuddy said, in a release. “You really know how good a singer is when you record with them and Corey is a superb singer.”
