With seven nominations each, Nova Scotia band Wintersleep and Newfoundland’s Tim Baker lead the way going into the 2020 East Coast Music Awards (ECMAs).

East Pointers from PEI follow with six noms and a trio of Nova Scotia acts – Ria Mae, Neon Dreams and Rich Aucoin – have five apiece, including Album of the Year.

Other familiar names on the list of nominees include Labrador City native Damhnait Doyle, whose Liquor Store Flowers is up for both Contemporary Roots Recording and Solo Recording of the Year, and fiddler Natalie MacMaster from Nova Scotia, whose Sketches is vying for Solo Recording of the Year.

Nova Scotia’s Famba, who shot the video for “Swear to God” at the iHeartRadio Fan Fest last May, is up for Dance Recording of the Year.

Song of the Year nominees include Nova Scotia’s Port Cities for their hit “Montreal.”

The ECMAs, hosted by Mary Walsh, will be handed out April 30 in St. John’s. Click here for a full list of nominations.
