Niall Horan Pick Gina Miles Wins 'The Voice' Season 23

Niall Horan’s first season as a coach on The Voice ended Tuesday with a victory for his pick Gina Miles.

The 18-year-old Illinois native, who now calls California home, was crowned the Season 23 winner after performing Taylor Swift's "Style" and Prince’s “Nothing Compares 2 U” (a hit for Sinéad O’Connor) and then teaming up with Horan on Billy Joel’s “New York State of Mind.”

Grace West, who was coached by Blake Shelton in his final season, was runner-up.

Miles got chair-turns from Horan and Kelly Clarkson when she auditioned with Katy Perry’s “The One That Got Away.” She went on to cover songs by Bon Iver, Gotye, Kodaline and Chris Isaak during the competition.

After 22 seasons, The Voice has failed to produce a chart-topping star. (Cassadee Pope, who won Season 3 in 2012, had some success in country music but announced last year that she is returning to her pop-rock roots.)

Horan returns to his big chair for Season 24 this fall along with John Legend and Gwen Stefani. Country star Reba McEntire will replace Shelton.
