Staycations: When Life Gives You Lemons, Drink Wine?
Since vacations are limited to local destinations this year, our hosts are sharing their vacation experiences to give you some ideas on local destinations to visit this summer! Check out Brooklyn's trip to Kelowna!
How lucky are we to live in Beautiful British Columbia? As you know, our province is now in phase three of this current pandemic. You’re probably not rushing to hop on a plane anytime soon, so I suggest swapping that window seat for the driver’s side of your car. Maybe even hop on a ferry! Keep your trips local or AT LEAST provincial this summer...and bring Virgin Radio with you until you lose signal.
My first BC trip of choice is ALWAYS the Okanagan. What is there not to love? Lakes, hikes, breweries, sunshine and of course...the wineries! Here are a few of my fave spots when in Kelowna.
· Quails Gate
· Mission Hill
· Ricco Bambino
· The hatch
· Mount Boucherie
· Vibrant Vine
· Summerhill Pyramid Winery
I mean the list goes on...now, due to COVID-19...wine tasting looks slightly different, but not by much! We waited in line for about 5-10 minutes at every place, because the maximum people allowed in each winery is of course limited. Otherwise, it was a great experience! I may have come home with a box of wine. Definitely make sure you have a friend who can be a designated driver and enjoy your weekend safely!
From the Boat to the Breweries
Soak up the views, sip on the good stuff and then have dinner on the lake! I recommend the Hotel Eldorado or Smack Dab at Manteo Resort, especially if you have a boat! Earls On Top has some of the best views in the city, and if you’re missing craft beer, they’ve got a new Craft Beer Market right downtown! Finish off your weekend with some brews and bowling at BNA! Just bring your own socks.
