‘Tis the Season! 5 Places to get into the Christmas Spirit in Vancouver!

Head down to the basement and break out your Santa hat! A few of our favourite Vancouver Christmas festivities are opening up this week! Here are a few places to visit to capture all the festive spirit and photos 'for the gram'! 

1. Surrey Tree Lighting

When: Saturday, November 23rd

Where: Surrey Civic Plaza

This FREE one day event is the perfect way to kick off the holiday season! Come out to see Santa right before his busy season. Enjoy the Holiday Market & Village featuring delicious eats and treats and pick up some amazing gifts from the many featured vendors!

There will be tons of fun activities for the family. Watch in amazement as an Ice Carver hand carves a Christmas tree! ‘Break it down’ in the Candy Cane Dance Tent, live DJ sets and performances will be occurring throughout the day. Plus, Disney! Mickey and Minnie Mouse ‘scurry’ into town for a Meet and Greet.

2. Christmas Glow Vancouver

When: Now – Jan. 5

Where: Harbour Convention Centre 760 Pacific Blvd.

GLOW Vancouver returns for its third year (first for this Vancouver location) as this family-friendly Christmas destination continues to delight guests with bright lights, delicious eats and daily live entertainment! Don’t worry about “Rain-Couver” drenching the fun as this Christmas event offers all the splendour of an outdoor festival from the cozy comfort of the indoors!

Bring the kids out to help find ‘Santa’s Lost Presents’, a fun interactive game to play with Christmas elves!

3. Vancouver Christmas Market

 When: Now – Dec. 24

Where: Jack Poole Plaza 1055 Canada Place. (Home of the Olympic Cauldron)

Now celebrating its 10th Anniversary, the Vancouver Christmas Market has become a tradition for locals during the holiday season!

 

Be sure to wear something colourful and bright as you’ll have plenty of ‘Instagrammable’ moments at this picturesque event! But, don’t forget to bring some stretchy pants so you can indulge in all the authentic German delicacies! Choose from delicious eats like Giant Turkey Legs (Non-GMO, grain fed, and antibiotic free of course) and German potato pancakes. Or mouth-watering treats like Transylvanian Chimney Cake!

4. Grouse Mountain’s ‘Peak of Christmas’

When: Nov. 22 – Jan. 5

Where: Grouse Mountain. 6400 Nancy Greene Way, North Vancouver

 

Head up, up, up! To the North Pole (of Vancouver) at Grouse Mountain this holiday season! The “Peak of Christmas” features a mountaintop village of fun filled activities for the entire family! Go on a “Lightwalk” as the snowy winter wonderland is illuminated by a breathtaking Christmas light display. 5. Canyon Lights – Capilano Suspension Bridge

When: Nov. 22 – Jan.26

Where: 3735 Capilano Road, North Vancouver

Canyon Lights illuminates Vancouver once again this year! As if this setting wasn’t beautiful enough, imagine Capilano Suspension Bridge Park lit up with Christmas lights! Get some friends together, bring the family out or simply have some ‘me-time’ at this magnificent Christmas display. Experience the eldest (and wisest) trees around in all their glory! The 250-year-old Douglas Fir trees are the tallest Christmas trees in the WORLD!!

Canyon Lights also features some amazing kid friendly activities such as the “Snowy Owl Prowl” and sing-a-long Christmas carols with the Holiday Band!
