A 'Hot Ones' style food competition is happening in Victoria
Do you like spicy food? Do you think you can handle the heat? Do you get joy from watching others feel the heat? Well then this event is for you!
Come join the Culinary Federation for a Hot Wing Challenge. All proceeds from this event will go towards charity initiatives for both the Culinary Federation and the Greater Victoria Fire Departments.
30 competitors will go head to head to see who can claim the glory of spiciest pallet. 10 wings, 10 sauces and a fearful sudden death. Do you know of anyone who is worthy of the challenge? All hot sauces are made by the Culinary Federation and there will be a special appearance of the Last Dab XXX.
How will it work?
Each Entrant will be presented with a series of 10 progressively hotter hot wings, covered in hot sauce prepared by the Culinary Federation, ranging in heat ratings from 30,000 Scovilles to 3,000,0000 Scovilles. Each round will last one minute, followed by a two-minute wait period. Each Entrant will be provided with a glass of water and a glass of milk (or milk alternative upon request if allergic or intolerant).
After 10 wings, the first, second and third place prizes will be awarded.
The event is inspired by the popular YouTube series, Hot Ones. Where celebrity guests are interviewed while eating increasingly spicy wings, covered in sauces that range from 1800 to 2,000,000+ Scovilles. It's both entertaining and sometimes painful to watch.
For reference, the spiciest pepper in the world the Caroline Reaper, averages 1,569,300 Scovilles. These wings are no joke.
So think you've got what it takes to conquer the spice gauntlet like the likes of Paul Rudd, Shia LeBeouf and Kristen Bell? Then grab your tickets and we'll see you there on the 30th!
