#FillTheSeats Blood Drive
Every 60 seconds, someone in Canada needs blood. Over 112,000 new donors are needed every year to ensure a strong inventory of live-saving blood is available for over 700 hospitals across the country. Over 4,500 annual appointments are needed in Winnipeg alone.
If you can help make a difference with Canadian Blood Services, please consider joining Canada's Lifeline today by becoming a blood donor as part of our #FillTheSeats Blood Drive. Your donation can ensure blood and blood products are available for critical medical care like surgeries, cancer treatment, treatments for diseases and disorders and much more.
Click here to make an appointment and discover if you can donate. Then tune in Wednesday, October 28th between 6 am and 6 pm to learn more how your contributions make a major impact in the lives of so many.
You can also text DONATEMB to 1-888-50-BLOOD to make an appointment. If you'd like to book as a team or small group, text TEAMMB to 1-888-50-BLOOD. Standard message rates may apply.
Advance appointments are required in order to ensure physical distancing practices can be upheld.
It often takes more than one generous donor to save a life. For example, it could take up to five donors to help patients through heart surgery. Eight donors a week are needed to help treat patients with leukemia. And 50 donors are needed to help save a victim of a car crash.
O-negative blood donors are especially needed because their blood type can be transfused to any patient. In times of emergency or for newborn patients, O-negative blood is sought-after as the universal blood type.
