AC/DC are the most popular rock band for drinking and partying, according to a new study.
Whiskey and bourbon site The Flask and Barrel researched over 23,425 Spotify playlists that referenced either drinking or partying to determine the most popular genres people drink to, as well as the favourite drinking songs by each genre.
The most popular genre for partying is, no surprise, hip-hop, which according to the site has 70,429 tracks on party playlists. Classic rock was second with 41,902 tracks, followed by Indipop (41,458) and country (35,281).
Australian rock legends AC/DC were crowned the "favourite rock band to drink to," with 4,143 drinking songs in party playlists. AC/DC also had three of the top five rock songs, including the number one drinking song "Thunderstruck."
Drake reigned surpreme in hip-hop with 27,643 playlist inclusions, but it was Usher's "Yeah!" featuring Lil Jon and Ludacris that featured on the most party playlists at 1191.
Zach Bryan topped country music's party playlists with 14,493 appearances, however, Chris Stapleton's "Tennessee Whiskey" was discovered to be the most popular drinking/party song for the genre.
For indie music (though I think they mean alternative), Arctic Monkeys were deemed the favourite artist for drinking and partying, appearing on 3,388 playlists. "Doses & Mimosas" by Cherub is the most popular song for the genre.
You can check out the full results from the study here. Previously the site conducted a different study on the most popular drinking songs, and there was some crossover, as Usher's "Yeah!" once again took the honour.
Shockingly, there wasn't a whole lot in common between playlists for drinking and partying and having sex.
