Adele took to Instagram for the first time this year to thank her fans for their birthday wishes and to pay tribute to frontline workers in the fight against COVID-19.
“Thank you for the birthday love,” the singer, now 32, captioned a photo of herself. “I hope you’re all staying safe and sane during this crazy time.
“I’d like to thank all of our first responders and essential workers who are keeping us safe while risking their lives! You are truly our angels. 2020 okay bye thanks x”
It was Adele’s first Instagram post since Dec. 23, 2019.
Fans have been eagerly awaiting a new album from Adele – her first in five years. At a friend’s wedding in February, Adele was heard telling guests to “expect my album in September.”
The singer’s three previous studio albums were titled with the ages she was when she wrote them – 19, 21 and 25.
Adele's latest Instagram post earned more than 2.8 million "likes" within the first eight hours as well as comments from stars like Lil Nas X, Chrissy Teigen and Andy Cohen.
In December, Adele sparked headlines with her slimmed-down look. A month later, a fan who met the singer on vacation claimed Adele told her losing "something like 100 pounds" was "such a crazy positive experience."
