Win Butler, frontman for Montreal's Arcade Fire, is the latest music artist to grow wary of social media's haters and trolls.
Late Monday, the singer announced he is taking a hiatus from Twitter.
He told his 24,000 followers: "Hey guys. Taking an extended break from this thing, will miss the opinions and the 1 liners :)))) talk later when I got something to say."
Last month, Ed Sheeran announced he was quitting Twitter. “I go on it and there’s nothing but people saying mean things," Sheeran told The Sun. "Twitter’s a platform for that.”
This week, Arcade Fire's new album Everything Now became the band's third consecutive No. 1 release on the Billboard 200.
They have shows in Quebec City, Montreal and Ottawa next month followed by October concerts in Edmonton, Calgary and Vancouver and two shows in Toronto in November.
