Ariana Grande says acting, not pop music, will be her focus over the coming decade.
Appearing on this week's episode of Las Culturistas, the 31-year-old told hosts Matt Rogers and Bowen Yang that she sees herself taking a step back from her music career to pursue more acting gigs.
“I’m going to say something so scary, it’s going to scare the absolute shit out of my fans and everyone,” Grande said. “I love them, and they will deal, and we will be here forever. I’m always going to make music. I’m always going to go on stage. I’m always going to do pop stuff, I pinky promise, but I don’t think doing it at the rate that I’ve been doing for the past 10 years is where I see the next 10 years.”
Grande, who released her seventh album, eternal sunshine, back in March 2024, says she is looking to return to musical theatre at some point.
“Reconnecting with this part of myself who started in musical theater, and who loves comedy, and it heals me to do that — finding roles to use these parts of myself and put them in little homes and characters and bits and voices and songs,” Grande continued. “Whatever makes sense, or whatever roles we see fit, or where I could really do a good job or honor the material, I would really love to. I think it’s a lot better for me. I’m getting emotional.”
In February, she explained to fans that she likely won't be touring any time soon thanks to her commitments to promoting her upcoming film, Wicked (out November 22), as well as its sequel, which is set for release on November 26, 2025.
