Avril Lavigne is back in the studio working on a new album. Or is she?
A bizarre conspiracy theory that the Canadian singer died in 2003 and was replaced by a lookalike is once again making the rounds.
It all started with a 2011 post on a Brazilian fan page that claimed Lavigne was found dead in her home and was replaced in the public eye by someone named Melissa.
But, here's where things get a little "Complicated."
This past weekend, someone with the Twitter name @givenchyass, who claims to be a 17-year-old high school student, reignited the craziness.

Her Twitter thread rehashed the so-called evidence that the Avril Lavigne we see today is not the original one.
Of course, @givenchyass is loving the attention. Her Twitter profile reads: “I made avril lavigne trend on twitter. how is your life going?”
Meanwhile, Melissa…err…Avril took to Twitter on Sunday to share a photo of herself with her mother.
“Happy Mother's Day to my incredible mother," she wrote, "and everyone else's mom's out there!”
