Vice President and 2024 Presidential candidate Kamala Harris has received permission to use Beyoncé's "Freedom" for her campaign.
Last night (July 22) Harris walked out to the 2016 banger featuring Kendrick Lamar in the first official visit to her campaign headquarters.
A source close to Harris confirmed to the media that her team did get quick approval from Beyoncé’s representatives to use the song throughout her bid to become president.
Beyoncé has yet to officially endorse Harris, who is seeking the Democratic nomination after President Joe Biden announced he would not seek re-election on Sunday (July 21). However, many feel that in allowing Harris to use “Freedom," the superstar has given her support.
Tina Knowles, Beyoncé's mother, wasted no time throwing her support behind Harris as a presidential candidate. On Instagram, she posted a photo of her with Harris, along with a caption showing enthusiasm for her bid.
"New, Youthful, Sharp , , energy !!!! You asked for it and our President Biden did what was best for the country ! Putting personal Ego , power and fame aside," she wrote. "That is the definition of a great leader, . Thank you, President Biden for your service and your leadership . Go Vice President Kamala Harris for President. Let's Go ❤️❤️❤️❤️ #kamala2024."
First Charli, now Beyoncé. The memes are strong with this one.
