As first reported here on March 13, BTS is postponing the North American leg of its Map of the Soul Tour, including two concerts in Toronto, due to COVID-19.
Big Hit Entertainment confirmed Thursday the tour, scheduled to kick off on April 25 in Santa Clara, California, “will be rescheduled to a later date.” The company added that “tickets will be honoured for the new dates,” which will be announced “as soon as possible.”
Jimin, J-Hope, Jin, Jungkook, RM, Suga and V were due to perform May 30 and 31 in front of a total of about 96,000 fans at Rogers Centre in Toronto.
Late last month, the group scrapped four concerts that were to take place at Jamsil Olympic Stadium in Seoul on April 11, 12, 18 and 19.
“We are closely monitoring and following the guidance of all local governments regarding public events to ensure we are providing a safe environment for everyone involved as we continue to update our tour plans.”
BTS made their Canadian debut in September 2015 at the 1,350-capacity Phoenix Concert Theatre in Toronto. In 2018, they did three nights at FirstOntario Place in Hamilton, Ont. as part of the Love Yourself World Tour.
