BTS has become the first fully South Korean act to have a song top the U.S. pop music chart.
“Dynamite,” the group’s first English-language single, debuts at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, dated Sept. 5 and published Tuesday.

In its first week of release, “Dynamite” had 33.9 million streams in the U.S. and sold 300,000 copies, according to Nielsen Music / MRC Data. With digital sales of 265,000, the song had the biggest week since Taylor Swift’s “Look What You Made Me Do” in September 2017.

“Dynamite” is the fourth Top 10 hit in the U.S. for BTS, following “On,” “Boy With Luv” ft. Halsey and “Fake Love.” The group has had four albums top the Billboard 200 chart.
In 2012, South Korea’s PSY made it to No. 2 on the Hot 100 with “Gangnam Style.”
Last month, BTS set a new record for the most views of a music video in its first 24 hours on YouTube when “Dynamite” racked up 101.1 million views following its Aug. 21 debut. It became the first music video to top 100 million views in one day.
