Insulting him isn't gonna get Calvin Harris to reconsider his retirement from DJing.
One month after admitting he plans to give up DJing before he turns 50, superstar DJ Calvin Harris has defended his set he played at last weekend's Ultra Music Fest in Miami, FL.
After the Dancing Astronaut account posted a clip from the set to Instagram, a user by the name of DJ Hova commented that he wasn't impressed by Harris' 75-minute performance.
"honestly thought this set was extremely underwhelming, gave it until 9:20 til I called it quits and went to svdden death," the aspiring DJ posted under comments.
Now, most fans who post a negative comment or straight up troll an artist rarely engage with said artist, but this seemed to be Hova's (un)lucky day.
"you expect me to play none of my songs?" Harris replied. "3 songs since 2014 hmm how deep is your love - billion streams, this is what u came for - billion streams, my way - billion streams, slide - billion streams, feels - billion streams, one kiss - billion streams, and the other 5 half a bil and before 2014 another 20 and not cheesy s**t proper f**king songs with real artists and you’d rather I play Fein trap edits today."
Needless to say, the Scottish DJ/producer was quite perturbed about the criticism and pointed out that he avoids playing these types of events for this very reason.
"spent months making new versions of everything for this and you wonder why I never play edm festivals," he continued. "at least people I saw irl had a great time and I can be happy with that but f**k at this point whatever I do is gonna piss you off."
Hova eventually walked back his comment, and even apologized to Harris, but he seems to be taking it in good humour. His Instagram bio now reads: "Survivor of saying Calvin Harris was underwhelming once."
