Noah Reid’s performance of “Simply The Best” on Schitt’s Creek last season has earned the Canadian actor and musician a Dorian Award nomination.
The Dorian Awards are handed out annually by GALECA, a network of more than 200 LGBT entertainment writers in the U.S., Canada, U.K. and Australia at outlets like Rolling Stone, Billboard, and iHeartRadio.ca.
Reid, 31, plays Patrick on the made-in-Canada TV series. In 2015, the Toronto native was nominated for Best Original Song at the Canadian Screen Awards for the title track to the film People Hold On.
In the sixth episode of Season 4 of Schitt's Creek, Reid's character serenades David (played by Dan Levy) with an acoustic cover of “Simply The Best,” the 1991 Tina Turner hit.
Reid is up against Adam Lambert (for his version of “Believe” at the Kennedy Center Honors); Billy Porter, MJ Rodriguez and Our Lady J (for “Home” on Pose); Keala Settle (for “This Is Me” at the Academy Awards); and Sufjan Stevens (for “Mystery of Love” at the Academy Awards).
Schitt’s Creek also earned Dorian Awards nominations for TV Comedy of the Year and Unsung TV Show of the Year.
