Carrie Underwood’s injuries following a reported fall at home were more serious than fans thought.
The country singer has revealed that she had as many as 50 stitches to her face in addition to surgery to fix a broken wrist.
“Now, here we are 7 weeks later and, even though I’ve had the best people helping me, I’m still healing and not quite looking the same,” Underwood wrote in a year-end message on her official fan club website.
“I honestly don’t know how things are going to end up but I do know this: I am grateful. I am grateful that it wasn’t much, much worse.”

Last month, Underwood posed for a photo with reality TV star Adrienne Gang – and although she sported a cast on her wrist, there were no signs of injuries to her face.

As a result of the Nov. 10 tumble at the Nashville home she shares with Canadian husband Mike Fisher, Underwood warned fans she might look a little different in 2018.
“When I am ready to get in front of a camera, I want you all to understand why I might look a bit different,” she explained. “I’m hoping that, by then, the differences are minimal, but, again, I just don’t know how it’s all going to end up.”
Underwood said she is going into the studio this week to work on new music.
