On Saturday night, Canadian chanteuse Celine Dion will do her 1,000th show on the stage of The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.
It’s a significant milestone for the global superstar who took up residency at the 4,300-seat venue in March 2003.
“When you say 1,000, I have to say that, yes, I am very impressed,” Dion told Robin Leach in an interview published by the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
“I’m still here 1,000 shows later, so to be honest with you it’s amazing, but I don’t want to sound pretentious.”
Dion had a nearly five-year run at The Colosseum with her show A New Day. She returned in 2011 with a new production, Celine.
To celebrate the 1,000th show, show producer AEG and Caesars Entertainment recently donated $100,000 for the Azar/Angélil Oncology Research Fund.
The 48-year-old singer lost her beloved husband René Angélil and her brother Daniel Dion to cancer within days of each other in January.
Dion rebounded with an extraordinary summer. Her new French-language album Encore un soir was a big seller and she performed sold-out shows in Europe and at home in Quebec.
She recently announced that Cirque du Soleil co-founder Gilles Ste-Croix has joined her team to create French- and English-language musicals about Dion’s life for Broadway and Montreal. (The singer will not appear in the shows.)
Dion said she is getting ready to record a new English album — her first since 2013’s Loved Me Back to Life.
She has also added 24 shows at The Colosseum between April 4 and June 3 (tickets go on sale Oct. 14).

“I don’t know what the future holds for me,” she told the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
“I don’t need to prove myself anymore. I’m doing it for fun. I’m doing this for love. I have a great time. I’ll do it tomorrow and all the tomorrows after that.”
Dion said she is also focused on being a mother to her three sons, René-Charles, 15, and twins Nelson and Eddy, who are almost 6.
“They are my gravity, the centre of my universe,” she said. “Each day starts with love, and when I go to bed at night, when I wake up in the morning.
The superstar admitted she had hoped to have a daughter — someone who could enjoy all her dresses and outfits.
“I need a little princess,” said Dion, adding that she is open to adoption.
But does she see herself falling in love again?
“I’m 48 years old, so everything is open. I’m not there yet, though. I don’t know if I can sing in love again,” Dion said.
“Today, no. I can say that. I’m not. My heart is already taken. And for how long, maybe for the rest of my life.”
