Céline Dion has taken a spectacular fall from the top of the Billboard 200 album chart.
Courage, the Canadian singer’s first English-language studio album since 2013’s Loved Me Back To Life, tumbled from No. 1 to No. 111 in its second week of release.
The stunning drop in sales and streams means Dion now holds the record for the biggest drop ever from the top of the Billboard 200 by a female artist – a dishonour held by Madonna since the summer, when Madame X went from No. 1 to No. 77.
Courage had the biggest fall in the chart’s history by an album that debuted at No. 1 and the second-biggest decline since Bon Jovi’s This House Is Not for Sale went from the top spot to No. 169 in one week last year.
In Canada, Courage is down only one spot to No. 2 in its second week, according to Billboard, replaced by the debut of the late Leonard Cohen's Thank You For The Dance.
Last week, Dion was being lauded for topping the U.S. chart for the first time in 17 years. But, since she doesn't write her songs, Dion is not likely to be too concerned about streaming and sales numbers – she earns millions from performing live and is currently on a world tour.
Replacing Courage at the top of the Billboard 200, dated Dec. 7, is A Love Letter To You 4 by Trippie Redd.
Dion’s fellow Canadian artist Tory Lanez saw his Chixtape 5 tumble from its No. 2 debut to No. 13.
Ten other spots on the Billboard 200 are held this week by Canadians – Leonard Cohen’s Thanks For the Dance bowed at No. 61; Michael Bublé’s Christmas is No. 17; Shawn Mendes is No. 51; and The Weeknd has both Starboy (No. 100) and Beauty Behind the Madness (No. 119).
Drake hold five spots: Scorpion (36), Take Care (95), Views (105), More Life (133) and Nothing Was the Same (191).
