Chris Brown took to Instagram Wednesday to tease “No Guidance,” the collaboration with Drake that appears on Brown’s forthcoming album, Indigo.
The singer shared a photo of he and Drake that he captioned: “SUMMER TIME BOUT TO GET ALOT HOTTER!”
The collaboration may be surprising, given that Brown was convicted a decade ago of assaulting Rihanna, who Drake referred to in 2016 as “one of my best friends in the world” and “someone I’ve been in love with since I was 22 years old.”
(Last year, Rihanna told Vogue: “We don’t have a friendship now, but we’re not enemies either. It is what it is.”)
Not so surprising is Justin Bieber's decision to work with Brown. The pop star, who is featured on the Indigo track "Don't Check on Me," came under fire last month for defending Brown on social media and referring to his assault on Rihanna as “a mistake.”
Also choosing to overlook Brown’s violent history with Rihanna are Drake’s and Bieber's fellow Canadians Matthew Samuels (aka Boi 1-da), who produced “Keep a Stack” for Brown’s new album and Tory Lanez, who is featured on “Lurkin'."
Indigo drops on June 28.
