Depeche Mode are the latest band to join the fray of artists responding to the current political climate with their latest release, “Where’s the Revolution”.
It’s the UK band’s first new music in four years, and it couldn’t be more timely. John Mellencamp, rapper J. Cole and Chrisette Michelle have all responded to recent political turmoil with new songs. Similarly, Gorillaz’ long-awaited return came in the form of a protest anthem, “Hallelujah Money”.

“You’ve been kept down/ You've been pushed 'round/ You've been lied to/ You've been fed truths,” Dave Gahan sings.
“I wouldn't call this a political album, because I don't listen to music in a political way. But it's definitely about humanity, and our place in that,” Gahan told Rolling Stone. “If we want things to change, a revolution, we need to talk about it and about caring about what goes on in the world. It doesn't seem the way things are in London. We seem to be going in another direction, and I think Martin felt like he needed to express that.”
“Where’s the Revolution” is our first taste of Depeche Mode’s upcoming 14th studio album, set for release Mar. 17. Listen to the track below:
