Drake has announced details of what was reported here on Wednesday – he’s getting into the cannabis biz.
The rapper is majority owner of More Life Growth Co., a partnership with Canopy Growth Corp. of Smiths Falls, Ont. to sell cannabis and related products.
“The opportunity to partner with a world-class company like Canopy Growth on a global scale is really exciting,” Drake said, in a release. “The idea of being able to build something special in an industry that is ever growing has been inspiring.”
The 33-year-old rap star owns 60 per cent of More Life, which takes its name from Drake’s 2017 mixtape. The company will take over a cannabis production facility that Canopy operates in Toronto.
“Drake’s perspective as a culture leader and entrepreneur combined with Canopy Growth’s breadth of cannabis knowledge will allow our new company to bring an unmatched cannabis experience to global markets,” CEO Mark Zekulin said, in a release. The company already has branding deals with rapper Snoop Dogg and Canadian actor Seth Rogen.

Drake teased the launch of More Life Growth Co. with deliveries of floral bouquets to media outlets this week and an Instagram post in which he used a photo of the Eden Project biodomes in Cornwall, England. (A spokesperson for the tourist attraction told Cornwall Live: “We have been made aware of the Instagram post. We have not authorised the use of the picture or been asked if it could be used. We don’t have any connection with Drake’s business either.”)
