Ed Sheeran on Tuesday confirmed he has become a first-time father.
“Last week, with the help of an amazing delivery team, Cherry gave birth to our beautiful and healthy daughter,” the singer captioned a photo of a blanket and a tiny pair of socks.
Sheeran, 29, and his 28-year-old wife named their daughter Lyra Antarctica Seaborn Sheeran.
“We are completely in love with her. Both mum and baby are doing amazing and we are on cloud nine over here,” he wrote. "We hope that you can respect our privacy at this time.”
Last month, British tabloid The Sun reported that the couple kept the pregnancy on the down-low by staying at their estate in Suffolk, England during the COVID-19 lockdown.
The singer and Seaborn have typically kept their private life out of the spotlight. The former high school classmates started dating in 2015 and got engaged in January 2018. They tied the knot exactly a year later in a secret ceremony attended by only a few family members and close friends.
In his 2017 song "Perfect," Sheeran sings: "Well, I found a woman, stronger than anyone I know / She shares my dreams, I hope that someday I'll share her home / I found a love, to carry more than just my secrets / To carry love, to carry children of our own."
Sheeran announced last December that he was taking a break from music and social media. “I promise to be back with some new music when the time is right,” he said, “and I’ve lived a little more to actually have something to write about.”
