Gospel singer Troy Sneed died early Monday in a Florida hospital of complications from COVID-19. He was 52.
Nominated for a Grammy in recognition of his work on the 1999 Youth For Christ album Higher, Sneed sang with the Georgia Mass Choir, which appeared in the 1996 Whitney Houston film The Preacher’s Wife.
He released seven albums as a solo artist and earned hits on the Billboard gospel chart with “Work It Out” and “My Heart Says Yes.”
Sneed leaves behind his wife of 27 years, Emily, and their children Troy Jr., Evany, Trey and Tyler.
COVID-19 has taken the life of several music artists, including John Prine, Adam Schlesinger, Joe Diffie, Alan Merrill, Fred the Godson, Matthew Seligman and Ellis Marsalis.
