Halsey, one of the big music stars coming to the iHeartRadio MMVAs on Sunday night, said she didn’t attend the MTV VMAs because she was snubbed.
When a fan asked via Twitter why the pop star wasn’t at Monday’s show in New York City, Halsey replied: “bc I directed all my own music videos this album just to have @MTV ‘#wcw’ me to death and not nominate me for anything so it didn’t feel right to go.
“I’m happy you guys liked the videos. That’s all that matters to me.”
Singer Lauren Jauregui had Halsey’s back, tweeting that she deserved a nomination.
“Consistently directed her own videos this entire era. Not to mention her attention to detail stringing them into a story,” tweeted Jauregui, who collaborated with Halsey on “Strangers” last year.
“I feel like that deserves recognition, especially in a climate where most artists don’t even write.”
Halsey is in the running for Best Pop Artist or Group, Best Video (“Bad At Love”) and Fan Fave Artist at Sunday’s iHeartRadio MMVAs, where she is set to perform.
