Janet Jackson will be presented with the Icon Award at the Billboard Music Awards later this month.
In addition to being honoured, the 51-year-old pop superstar will perform for the first time on television in nine years.
Jackson (that’s Miss Jackson, if you’re nasty) has released 11 studio albums since 1982 that have spawned hits like “Control,” “What Have You Done For Me Lately” and “Miss You Much.”

She has collected 10 Billboard Music Awards as well as 11 American Music Awards, nine MTV Video Awards, and five Grammys.
Previous Icon Award winners include Prince, Cher, Jennifer Lopez and Canada’s Céline Dion.
The Billboard Music Awards, hosted by Kelly Clarkson, will air live from Las Vegas on May 20 at 8 pm ET on CTV.
