Country star Jason Aldean was back on stage Thursday, nearly two weeks after he fled the stage of the Route 91 Harvest Festival in Las Vegas as bullets rained down.
After cancelling a handful of shows in the wake of the tragedy, Aldean resumed his tour in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
"I'm glad that we were able to resume the tour for you guys," he said. "I hope none of you guys ever experience anything like that."
He performed three songs before he stopped to pay tribute to the 58 killed and nearly 500 injured in the shooting. The singer urged fans not to live in fear.
“These people are going to continue to try to hold us down," Aldean said. "To those people that keep trying to do that, I say f**k you, we don't really care."
Aldean also said he hopes people can come together in a divided nation.
Then, he said: “I want to play the show for you guys that the people in Las Vegas came to see and didn't get a chance to.”
Last weekend, Aldean performed Tom Petty’s “I Won’t Back Down” in the opening of SNL and then returned to Vegas to visit hospitals where many of the wounded were taken.
