Jennifer Lopez has cancelled her North American summer tour, which was originally set to kick off later this month in Orlando, FL.
Via tour promoter Live Nation, J.Lo sent "A Special Message to My JLovers OnTheJLo" on Friday (May 31) apologizing for the cancellation.
“I am completely heartsick and devastated about letting you down. Please know that I wouldn’t do this if I didn’t feel that it was absolutely necessary. I promise I will make it up to you and we will all be together again. I love you all so much. Until next time…”
Live Nation issued its own statement, explaining, “Representatives for Live Nation announced today that the Jennifer Lopez US Summer 2024 Tour ‘THIS IS ME…LIVE’ is canceled, citing … ‘Jennifer is taking time off to be with her children, family and close friends."
“For those who purchased through Ticketmaster, tickets will automatically be refunded – there is nothing further fans need to do," the statement continued. "For those who purchased via third-party resale sites such as SeatGeek, StubHub, VividSeats, etc. – please reach out to your point purchase for more details.”
The cancellation does come as a surprise as J.Lo's arena tour reportedly struggled to sell tickets from the beginning when it was originally titled the This Is Me… Now The Tour, promoting her recent album and movie, This Is Me…Now.
In April it was rebranded as This Is Me… Live | The Greatest Hits awithout any explanation, seemingly as a way to draw more ticket buyers, but this latest announcement confirms that there wasn't enough interest in the shows.
Rumours have been circulating that Lopez and her husband Ben Affleck are currently facing struggles in their marriage. People reports that the couple “is not in the best place at the moment,” and have been living in separate homes recently. Embarking on a summer-long tour likely wouldn't help.
It's really a shame, because it would have been delightful to see her Atlas co-star Simu Liu join J.Lo's dance crew.
