Jessie J wrote on Instagram early Monday that she is “Happy Grateful Excited" to be pregnant.
The 34-year-old pop star shared the good news on Friday.
“I am so happy and terrified to finally share this,” Jessie J captioned a video backed by her song “Sunflower” on Instagram. “Please be gentle with me. Honestly, ya girl just wants to ugly cry in public in a catsuit eating a chocolate covered pickle with no questions asked.”
The 34-year-old, whose full name is Jessica Cornish, was congratulated in the comments by artists like Rita Ora, Kelly Rowland, Ellie Goulding and Tori Kelly.
“AAHHHHHHHH IM SO HAPPY FOR UUUUU CONGRATS BIG SIS,” wrote Kehlani. “All that patience, you did it.”
Jessie J followed up with video clips showing her struggling in the early days of her pregnancy. “I can’t even explain to you how sick I feel,” she says at one point.
She captioned the video “I was warned about that first trimester and it was WOOFY WOOF” along with several vomiting emojis.
The pregnancy news came a little more than a year after Jessie J shared her heartbreak over suffering a miscarriage.
"I decided to have a baby on my own. Because it's all I've ever wanted and life is short," she wrote on Instagram in November 2021. "To get pregnant was a miracle in itself and an experience I will never forget and I know I will have again. I'm still in shock, the sadness is overwhelming. But I know I am strong, and I know I will be ok.”
Last May, during an appearance on The Diary of a CEO podcast, Jessie J reflected on the grief.
“I felt like I’d been given everything I’ve ever wanted and then someone had gone, ‘but you can’t have it,’” she said. “I’d never felt so lonely in my life.
“It was just the saddest thing but at the same time I knew that the reason it happened was because I wasn’t supposed to do it alone. I know I’m supposed to find someone that wants this as much as I do.”
