Pop star Joe Jonas and actress Sophie Turner have tied the knot again – this time in the South of France.
Saturday's lavish formal wedding and celebration comes about two months after the couple exchanged vows in front of an Elvis impersonator in a Las Vegas wedding chapel.
Jonas, 29, and Turner, 23, exchanged vows inside a white tent on the grounds of Château de Tourreau in Sarrians, in the Provence region. In honour of the couple, banners hanging on either side of the front door to the 250-year-old castle read: “Welcome to Chateau Jophie.”
The bride, holding a bouquet of fresh white flowers, looked beautiful in a white gown and veil while the groom wore a black tuxedo over a black shirt with a white boutonnière. At least one of the couple's beloved Alaskan Klee Klai dogs was there, and wore a canine tux.
Among the 200 or so guests were Kevin Jonas and wife Danielle, Nick Jonas and wife Priyanka Chopra, Turner’s Game of Thrones co-star Maisie Williams with her boyfriend Reuben Selby, Diplo and Cole Whittle of DNCE.
Chopra wore a pink saree while hubby Nick and his brother Kevin looked dapper in classic black tuxedos accented with white boutonnières, according to an insider.
After the sunset ceremony, everyone moved to the Château Martinay – a neoclassical castle that was destroyed during the French Revolution and rebuilt in the 19th century – about 14 km away in Carpentras. (Jonas and Turner had a white 1958 MGA Roadster at their disposal.)
The party was under a huge white tent set up in the courtyard of the château. Calum Scott was on hand to perform his 2017 single "You Are The Reason."
Security on the grounds was coordinated by Justin Bieber’s former bodyguard, Moshe Benabou, owner of IsraGuard Security.
The happy couple’s wedding weekend began Friday with a rehearsal dinner at La Mirande in Avignon, where guests dressed in white celebrated with Jonas and Turner, who wore matching red outfits.
The pair have been in France for more than a week and were spotted strolling around Paris and taking a romantic cruise on the Seine. On Instagram, both Jonas and Turner shared a romantic photo with the Eiffel Tower in the background.
Turner told Harper’s Bazaar UK that she and Jonas had mutual friends who were anxious to set them up but it was social media that ultimately brought them together.
“We were following each other on Instagram and he direct-messaged me one fine day, out of the blue,” she recalled.
In November 2016, they were photographed together at the MTV Europe Music Awards but it wasn’t until early 2017 when they publicly confirmed they were dating. They spent time together in Montreal throughout the summer of 2017 while Turner was shooting Dark Phoenix.
The couple announced their engagement in October of that year – via Instagram, of course.
“I said yes,” Turner shared, while Jonas wrote: “She said yes.”
At the beginning of May, after attending the Billboard Music Awards, Turner and Jonas were married at A Little White Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas.
One of the guests at the ceremony was Diplo, who shared video clips on social media.
“Yeah, he did ruin it,” Jonas later joked on the Capital Breakfast radio show. “I love Diplo, but he loves his 'gram more than a 13-year-old … He literally, like, live-streamed with dog-face filters.”
In her interview with Harper’s Bazaar UK, Turner said of Jonas: ”He’s lovely. He’s just the funniest. You wouldn’t expect he’s about to turn 30 this year. He’s the most fun, energetic, positive person I’ve ever seen.
“I’m pessimistic, so we balance each other out.”
Jonas and his brothers kick off their Chasing Happiness Tour in Miami on Aug. 7 and will make stops in Toronto on Aug. 23-24 and Nov. 26, in Vancouver on Oct. 11, and in Montreal on Nov. 27. The tour runs until late February 2020.
