Justin Bieber has reportedly bought a mansion in his native Ontario.
TMZ reported Thursday that the pop star paid $5 million – but it did not specify if this figure is in U.S. or Canadian dollars.
According to records, the home had been on the market for about a year at $4,950,000 (all figures CAD). It was originally listed in 2014 for $5,499,000 and reduced to $5,288,800 in 2016.
According to TMZ, Bieber closed the deal on Monday but there is “no word on when he plans on moving in.”
In a since-deleted Instagram post, realtor Cliff Rego indicated the property sold in July. On Facebook, Rego said “the buyers … now lay claim to one of Ontario's premier properties.”
There has been no confirmation that Bieber is the new owner.
The 880-square-metre custom-built home at 6620 Concession 1 in Puslinch – about 90 minutes east of the London, Ont. hospital where Bieber was born – sits on 43 hectares of land and boasts nearly 295 metres of frontage on a 643-hectare lake.
The house, which has four bedrooms and six bathrooms, was built in 2012 of limestone with cedar shingles. Inside, it has oiled Austrian oak plank flooring, reclaimed beams and stone kitchen counters. There are three fireplaces.
Among the many features are a two-storey glass wine cellar, a home theatre, games room, observatory and gym. Bieber and his betrothed, Hailey Baldwin, will be able to snuggle in their ground-floor 23’4” x 21’1” master bedroom with ensuite and dressing room.
There is a built-on three-car garage and a separate garage for additional vehicles or boats.
At the front of the property are horse riding facilities, including a 1000-metre track, which were previously leased out.
If Bieber is indeed the home’s next resident, he will be only an hour’s drive away from the $850,000 mansion he purchased in 2013 near Stratford for his father Jeremy Bieber. The pop star will also be pleased to know the nearest Tim Horton’s is just 20 minutes away in Guelph.
Bieber’s rumoured new Canadian homestead has some history. In October 2012, 47-year-old Russell Hawkins died on the property when the Cessna float plane he was in crashed shortly after taking off from the lake.
