Justin Bieber didn’t take kindly to being called out for lip-syncing his hit “Sorry” at Coachella on Sunday night.
The Canadian singer took to social media to slam E! host Morgan Stewart, who noted that Bieber’s mic wasn’t always near his mouth during his surprise appearance during Ariana Grande’s set.
“Poor song started before him,” Stewart said on Nightly Pop. “I did not realize it was going to be that bad.”
Stewart then commented on Bieber's appearance. “He definitely looks like he put an Oxypad on that forehead but I don’t care, that’s f**ked up.”
Bieber responded on Twitter: “They played the song and i just sang overtop of it. I sang to backtrack like most cameos do this is a normal thing.”
He tweeted at Stewart: “Rather than being positive you belittle people. Think about how awesome it felt for me to be on that stage after being away for so long the excitement and joy it gave me doing the thing i love the most.
“Imagine if you spent even half the time you spend laughing at other peoples expense actually building people up and encouraging people how much positivity you could bring.”
Bieber called Stewart a bully and blamed people like her for “making kids suicidal.”
He added: “When are we gonna be the kind of people that find joy in adding value to one another and not tearing each other apart.”
When Global News writer Katie Scott opined on Twitter that it is Stewart’s job to express opinions and it’s Bieber’s job to handle the spotlight, the pop star came at her, too.
“As a journalist u gotta check your fact before taking sides,” Bieber wrote in a message to Scott that she shared on Twitter. “I’m also a fellow Canadian!!! You should give me the Benefit of the doubt love.”
Bieber complained it was unfair that Stewart was “poking fun at the fact that I was lipsyning (sic).”
