Justin Bieber and his wife of about a year Hailey Baldwin exchanged vows Monday evening.
The 25-year-old Canadian singer and the 22-year-old model got engaged in July 2018 and were legally married last fall in New York City but opted to wait until now to have a formal religious ceremony and a big party in South Carolina.
The fun at the Montage Palmetto Bluff – a resort located along the May River between Savannah and Hilton Head – started with activities for their friends and family members, including bike rides and shooting at the range.
On Sunday, guests were taken by water taxi to Moreland Landing for an outdoor rehearsal dinner decorated with strings of lights and candles set up on long tables. Waiters holding trays of champagne flutes greeted guests as they stepped off the boats.
For the rehearsal dinner, Bieber wore a white polo shirt, black pants and boat shoes while Baldwin was in a Vivienne Westwood mini wrap dress paired with Jimmy Choo stilettos.
There was a screening of The Notebook (which was shot in South Carolina) starring Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling (who were both born at the same London, Ont. hospital as Bieber).
A late-night bash for the couple and their friends included bowling and games.
Monday’s festivities began at 6 p.m. local time with a pre-ceremony reception followed by the sunset nuptials inside Somerset Chapel on the grounds of the Montage Palmetto Bluff.
Bieber wore a black tux and bow tie accessorized with a Audemars Piguet watch from Jadelle Beverly Hills that he said was a wedding gift to himself. Hailey wore a strapless gown and veil.
Guests then enjoyed cocktails before a formal dinner inside one of the ballrooms and a party that went into the night. Bieber’s fellow Canadian singer Daniel Caesar reportedly performed.
Guests include Bieber's pals Jaden Smith and Lil Za; Kendall Jenner and Travis Scott; Bieber’s manager Scott “Scooter” Braun; the bride’s parents Stephen and Kennya Baldwin and uncle William Baldwin (with his wife, singer China Phillips). Bieber’s dad Jeremy is there with his family as well as Bieber’s mom Pattie Mallette and his uncle Brad.
TMZ reported that Bieber's friends Ed Sheeran and Usher were on hand and other media outlets claimed Katy Perry was there.
In an interview with Vogue published in February, Bieber described himself as the “emotionally unstable one” in the relationship and spoke about the challenges of being married.
"We don’t want to lose each other. We don’t want to say the wrong thing, and so we’ve been struggling with not expressing our emotions,” he explained, “which has been driving me absolutely crazy because I just need to express myself, and it’s been really difficult to get her to say what she feels.”
