Justin Timberlake played his first concert on Friday night (June 21) following his arrest last week for driving while intoxicated.
From the stage the 43-year-old singer addressed the incident during his concert at the United Center in Chicago, IL, saying, "We've been together through ups and downs, lefts and rights. It's been a tough week, but you're here, and I'm here, and nothing can change this moment right now."
Timberlake was arrested early Tuesday morning (June 18) in Sag Harbor, LI after he allegedly drove through a stop sign and failed to keep to the side of the road, court documents state.
He told the arresting police officer that he'd consumed only "one martini" at the American Hotel, and was following some friends home. While he refused a Breathalyzer test three times, police said he "performed poorly on all standard field sobriety tests." He was also described as being in "an intoxicated condition," displaying eyes that were "bloodshot and glassy" and emanating a "strong odour of an alcoholic beverage on his breath."
The *NSYNC star was clearly emotional on stage, adding, “I know sometimes I’m hard to love, but you keep on loving me and I love you right back.”
Timberlake is currently continuing his Forget Tomorrow World Tour, which has three more Canadian dates on the schedule: October 4 at Bell Centre in Montreal, QC, and two shows at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, ON on October 17 and 18.
