Art is in the eye of the beholder, and according to a gallery in Sag Harbor, NY, a new piece based on Justin Timberlake's mugshot from his recent arrest for DWI qualifies as a work of art.
Local artist Godfrey Lohman brought a Warhol-like print of the *NSYNC star's famous mugshot to The Romany Kramoris Gallery in Sag Harbor where it is currently hanging and attracting “nonstop lines” from spectators in the area.
Page Six reports the print is available in several colours from the gallery for $520 USD.
“My reaction was, ‘Oh my God!’ That’s great! It’s just great!” owner Romany Kramoris, told Page Six when the artist brought the piece in.
Leslie Raff, who works at the gallery, added, “[The mugshot] is our most contemporary piece! It’s au courant.”
The mugshot art will be on display at the gallery throughout the summer, though the colours could change. “The green one is not my favourite," Kramoris said. "He looks a little sickly, too many martinis on the green one,”
Timberlake was arrested on June 17 after meeting with friends for dinner at the American Hotel that night. He was reportedly pulled over by police moments just after midnight and charged with driving while intoxicated and cited for running a stop sign and failing to keep on the right side of the roadway.
