Katy Perry has been teasing new music since last August and it appears to be coming very soon.
The pop star is set to leave her post as a judge on American Idol after this current season, and while doing promo for the show mentioned that her new single is just around the corner.
Standing alongside Congolese-Canadian singer-songwriter Lu Kala, Perry announced that the two have written her next single.
"She helped me write one of my biggest songs that has yet to come out. But it's coming," Perry said to the camera, before hyping up her collaborator, "Lu Kala everyone! Lu Kala!"
Kala, of course, has been on a hot streak of late, appearing on Latto's international hit "Lottery," while also releasing her own bops "Pretty Girl Era" and "Hotter Now." It makes total sense that Perry wanted her to co-write.
On her socials, the former iHeartRadio Future Star shared her gratitude for Perry, writing, "Me & @katyperry last night. Really got to hang with 1 of my idols last night & she announced this?!😭 brb, i’m crying!... To know me is to know that I’ve been a Katy fan FOREVER!! You can’t spell Pop without @katyperry and as a Pop gurlll, this means the WORLD TO ME!!!!🥹💕 brb, still crying."
Adding, "I was not expecting any of this, wow😭 Thank you @katyperry for letting me be the tiniest part of what you have coming. I can’t wait for the world to hear it🥹💕... When @katyperry said « LU KALA everyone, LU KALA »… I’ll never get over that ."
