Lady Gaga said Wednesday she regrets collaborating with R Kelly on “Do What U Want (With My Body),” a track on her 2013 album ARTPOP.
In a statement she shared on social media, Gaga said she is trying to have the song – which references a sexual assault she suffered as a teen – wiped from streaming platforms.
“I made both the song and video at a dark time in my life,” she explained. “My intention was to create something extremely defiant and provocative because I was angry and still hadn’t processed the trauma that had occurred in my own life.
“It’s clear how explicitly twisted my thinking was at the time.”

Gaga described allegations against R Kelly in the recently-aired docu-series Surviving R Kelly as “absolutely horrifying and indefensible” and said she stands behind and believes Kelly’s accusers.
“I feel strongly that their voices should be heard and taken seriously,” she wrote.
Gaga added: “I can’t go back, but I can go forward and continue to support women, men, and people of all sexual identities, and of all races, who are victims of sexual assault.”
